This Month's Unveiled Artist - Hydrogyn

Hydrogyn gets the honor of being our first “Unveiled” act for our rock section.

HydrogynIn just a few short years, Hydrogyn has moved from conception to working with a major record producer, to a three-record deal with a quality independent label.

Jeff Westlake, founder, guitarist and leader of the band has built and maintained a lineup of great players. He is joined by Chris Sammons (bass), Josh Cumberland (Drums) and Davo Chandler (live Sound.), and last, but sure as hell not least, a fabulous front woman, Julie. Abracadabra, the magic begins.

Hydrogyn is a very polished outfit, masters at the art of rock 'n' roll. The live shows are tight and energetic with soaring vocals, a masterful rhythm section and ripping guitar. I recommend checking them out on YouTube to get a feel of their live shows. Also check out the band's Website and MySpace site for a good dose of rock.

The combination of raw talent, hard work and relentlessness has propelled Hydrogyn forward, achieving much in a short period of time. The band formed in 2004 and immediately landed some high-profile gigs like NASCAR (Chevy Rocking 400, May 2005), arranged by band sponsor Pepsi. Pros from the start, these folks have made an impression with every opportunity.

The band had recorded material on its own, but it was the “Bombshell” album that really got things moving. Produced by the legendary Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Metallica, Skidrow) “Bombshell” got people talking.

"Hydrogyn is going to be big, very big...” – Michael Wagener, Producer

“Bombshell” was released in 2007 on Destroy All Records to an international audience. Sales of the album were good and the band started getting attention from the industry. The success of “Bombshell” (self-promoted) wasn’t lost on Demolition/DR2, who signed the band to a three- record deal in early 2008.

“Deadly Passions,” the first record in that deal, was released in the summer of 2008. This album was produced by Jeff Westlake himself, and he must have done something right. Album sales are doing well and Westlake has begun recording the next Hydrogyn release. Below is the official video for the single “Candles Light Your Face,” the latest single from "Deadly Passions."
