Unveiled - Atomic Blonde
Over the last several years, Atomic Blonde has sold thousands of albums and downloads, won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and amassed more than a million plays on MySpace. From the country music capital of the world comes an energetic, punky, comedic, rock ‘n’ roll band.
A
friend of mine coined the phrase “Music Snob” some time ago. He used
this to describe people who, for one reason of another, discount music
based on preconceived notions. Admittedly I was a music snob, but over
time realized I was being unfair. Wonder how much great music I have
missed over the years? Unfortunately, most female rock bands are
categorically dismissed in the same fashion.
Rock ‘n’
roll is a hard business for anyone. A band has to be tough and a female
band must be even tougher. Atomic Blonde makes no excuses as it claws
its way up the ladder.
Several years ago, four rock angels descended upon Nashville, Tenn., with steeled determination. They had the same struggles familiar to hard-working bands the world over. Cramped together in a one-bedroom apartment, they plotted their course and have stayed true to it, without band casualties. Proudly working hard at their day jobs and launching their rock assault at night, Atomic Blonde is getting noticed.
I was first drawn to the band by their fun, cool image. I was pleasantly surprised to find the group to be not only fun and cool, but simply a great rock act. Its greatest selling point is definitely the kick-ass live performances.
Currently the ladies are working on a full-length album, so watch for it in the near future. At present you can purchase their 6-song EP at CD Baby or downloads from iTunes or Amazon. There is also a ton of Atomic Blonde merchandise for sale on the band’s websites.
